 $20 Million Per Movie
Cameron Diaz

Born on August 30, 1972 in Long Beach, California, Cameron Diaz grew up in the typical fashion of any all-American girl. Except of course, she was an exceptional beauty.

Cameron's dad, Emilio, a Cuban American, was a foreman at a California Oil Company. Her mom, Billie, who's German, English, and Native American, was an import-export broker. Cameron was raised in Long Beach alongside her sister Chimene.

As she was growing up, Cameron was like most girls, listening to lots of modern music and acting wild. But by her mid-teens, Cameron began attending Hollywood parties and staying out until the wee hours of the morning. It was during this party phase of her life that Cameron ended up meeting a well connected man who would change her whole life.

Jeff Dunas spotted Cameron while she was out one night and told her that he could sign her up with the Elite modeling agency. Although Cameron initially thought his proposition was somewhat fishy, she took his card and discussed it with her family and friends.

Her talent landed her in such magazines as Mademoiselle and Seventeen, and in advertising campaigns for such companies as Calvin Klein, Coca-Cola, and Levi's. After leaving home at 16, she toured the world modeling for five years, and her successful career took her to Japan, Australia, Morocco, and Paris. Cameron returned to California at the age of 21. The career of fashion model does not last long. Camerom wanted more started to think about her future.

She was unknown in the film industry when she was cast in her breakthrough role as the target of Jim Carrey's hyper-animated lust in The Mask. Following the hoopla surrounding her performance--or, more specifically, her physical appearance--in the film, Diaz opted to take acting lessons and appear in a series of small, independent films, including The Last Supper (1995), She's the One (1996), and Feeling Minnesota (1996). After starring opposite Ewan McGregor in Danny Boyle's A Life Less Ordinary, Diaz further endeared herself to audiences and critics with her performance in My Best Friend's Wedding (1997). Proving herself an acceptable foil for the film's star, Julia Roberts, It was at this time that The National Association of Theater Owners (NATO) acknowledged her string of movie triumphs by naming her the ShoWest Female Star of Tomorrow.

A little while after that, she hit the silver screen once again with A Life Less Ordinary starring opposite Ewan McGregor. Unfortunately, however, the movie was not well received by critics.

To be considered “successful” in Hollywood terms, Cameron would need not just supporting role in a well known film, but a staring one. There's Something About Mary in 1998 was her big break. Starring as the film's titular heroine, Diaz turned in an audience-pleasing performance in the cheerfully bawdy film, which proved to be one of the year's biggest box-office successes. The same year, Diaz made a cameo appearance in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and starred as Jon Favreau's unhinged fianc? in the black comedy Very Bad Things. Now fully established as one of Hollywood's hottest properties, she went on to take lead roles in 1999's Being John Malkovich, in which she played puppeteer John Cusack's wife, and Any Given Sunday, in which she played the president and co-owner of a football team in Oliver Stone's paean to American football.

In 2003 Diaz rejoined Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in the Hollywood mega hit Charlie's Angels, the much-hyped big screen remake of the television classic. It has been reported that Cameron was paid $12 million dollars for the first Charlies Angels and  $20 million for the sequel.

Professionally, Cameron Diaz seems to have the world on a string. What hit film will she star in next? Stay tuned to CelebrityActing.com for all the juciey details.
